Trump DID NOT write the book “The Art Of The Deal”.
He had a ghostwriter write it. Someone else. NOT HIM.
The ghostwriter would have called it “The Sociopath” now.
Tony Schwartz, the ghostwriter of Donald Trump’s 1987 book “The Art of the Deal,” has, in recent years, expressed deep regret over his role in crafting the book.
In a 2016 interview with The New Yorker, Schwartz described Trump as having “a complete lack of conscience about it,” referring to his strategic use of lying. He also mentioned that he created a character “far more appealing than Trump actually is.”
Schwartz has been vocal about his remorse, stating that writing the book is “the greatest regret of his life” and expressing a wish that it “weren’t even in print.”
He has also suggested that if the book were to be written today, it would be titled “The Sociopath.”
In the book, Schwartz coined the term “truthful hyperbole” to describe Trump’s style of promotion, which he later criticized as a contradiction in terms, essentially a way of saying, “It’s a lie, but who cares?”
Schwartz’s reflections provide insight into the creation of “The Art of the Deal” and his current perspective on its portrayal of Trump.
